They have to assemble a team comprised of heroic figures called Luminaries. Luminaries are the characters coming from the long history of Disney and Pixar media franchise. The main goal of the action RPG is to battle the infection, acquire the relics called Cryption Keys and put end to the terror by Syntax. Fans of Disney and Pixar will be able to meet their favorite characters, at the same time, more characters will be added as fanservice. The following franchises appearing in this action role playing game are Big Hero 6, Mickey Mouse & Friends, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles and Wreck-it-Ralph. They will have to face infected characters, at the same time recruit them in their squad as exclusive Luminaries.

The action role playing game has solo and multiplayer modes. The solo story missions involves progressing to the epic plot. The multiplayer mode comes with Co-op and Showdown mode. Players can either cooperate against the infection or have a friendly battle to find out which has the best and well-composed Luminary squad. Each Luminarie is divided into 4 classes: Balanced, Strength, Speed and Wisdom. Every class has strengths and weaknesses akin to other classic RPGs.
